The
long awaited moment many had waited for had finally arrived, it was the
start of the 2001-2002 NFPB Federation Finals. Each cowboy got his
moment in the spotlight as announcers; Rex Strayer and Chris Pyle,
introduced them into an arena lit by the burning letters NFPB and a
spotlight. As the cowboys
exited a single bull, representing all the great bulls of the NFPB
entered. Spotlights followed along as the |

|
champion
circled the arena as the theme song from “Rocky”, and the roaring
crowd echoed through the arena. The
admiration the NFPB has for its animal athletes was evident.

|
The
song “Proud to be an American” set the scene for the presentation of
the American Flag by the 139th Airlift Wing, Missouri National Guard. As
the music faded into the National Anthem the reigning Miss NFPB, Melissa
Millward, circled the arena on her horse bringing together the launch of
the evening’s presentation with a spectacle of glory and patriotism.
With the introduction of the finals personnel the first bull was
ready

Since
last year’s finals several of the Stock Contractors have added bulls and
we were overwhelmed with the power of these bulls.
The riders gave it their best shot, but these powerful bulls made
it an easy night for judges, Larry Watson and Mike Grimes along with
Darren Thorton behind the chutes. It was a show of expertise from both the bulls and the
riders, but the evening’s victory was for the bulls.
