Australia. Carlton finished 7th overall. Congrats to Justin
and thank you for representing the NFPB
so well once again.
Date
change: Morrison, IL is now August 18, call-in August 9.
On
April 8, St. Joseph Civic Arena once again came to life with the 2010
Federation Finals, celebrating the NFPB‘s 15th anniversary.
Willy Ropp came in with a lead of $6950.45. He would not be competing due
to a career ending injury he suffered in Grand Rapids, MI, but was still
looking like he could hold on and win the year end Federation Cup. The
number 2 contender, Jimmy Tubbs, would have to have an almost perfect
three days to catch Ropp.
Round
one went according to Tubbs’s plan. He was 87 pts on 5G’s bull #328 to
split the round with number 3 man, Jimmy Twedt, who rode Meech’s bull
#522. Matt Moore was 3rd with an 85.5. Fourth was a four way
tie between Caleb Ruyle, Curt Check, Curtis Seamans and Henry Yoder all
gathering 85 points.
Round
two went to Oklahoma’s Matt Gray. He cashed in with an 89.5 point ride
on Scott Burruss’s bull #640. Eleven time finals qualifier and two time
Federation Cup Champion, Justin Carlton, struck with an 88 point effort
aboard Palmer/Mayberry’s bull #4. Jimmy Tubbs hit again with an 87.5 to
split with Caleb Ruyle for third and fourth.
Round
three on Friday night went to Iowa’s Jimmy Twedt. Twedt was 89.5 on
Scott Farace’s bull #56. Matt Gray again found his way into the top four
with a second in the round with an 86.5 on Meech’s bull #405. Once again
Jimmy Tubbs and Caleb Ruyle struck, both with 86 point efforts.
Round
four went the way of Iowa when Jimmy Twedt rode his fourth bull in a row
and was 90.5 on Lightening C Cattle Co.’s bull #630. Twedt has also
placed in all four rounds. Kansas cowboy and number one rookie, Ty
Clearwater broke the ice with an 88.5 on Williams & Long’s bull #55.
Danny Schlobohm and Kenny Hickman split third and fourth with 87 point
rides.
Round
five saw how determined Jimmy Tubbs was as he split the round with Jimmy
Twedt with a pair of 86.5. Tubbs rode 5G’s bull #RP603 and Twedt covered
Double S Bull Co.’s bull #3. Springfield, Missouri’s Dustin Hall
placed third with an 85.5 and Matt Moore placed again with an 85.
Round
six went to the many time finals qualifier Adam Proctor. Proctor was 88.5
on Lightening C’s bull #521. Jimmy Tubbs struck again with an 88 point
ride on Lightening C’s bull #52. Illinois bull rider Jim Kreke was third
with an 86.5 and Danny Schlobohm grabbed fourth with an 85. Jimmy Twedt
rode his sixth bull to become only the second man to ever ride all six
bulls at the Federation Finals. The only other was Virgil Alsup in 2005.
The
year end Federation Cup Champion was going to be very close. After all the
figures were done Ropp held on to the lead over Tubbs by only $758.79.
What a great effort Mr. Tubbs made. Congrats to Willy Ropp the 2009
Federation Cup Champion.
