On March 30 - April 1, the St. Joseph Civic Arena in St. Joseph, MO was once again full of loud fans that came alive for the National Federation of Professional Bullriders. They were attending the 2006 Federation Finals. As always, they witnessed an outstanding event from start to finish with three days and six rounds of explosive action. Arkansas cowboy Jermey Harris came in as the number one man with a $3,425.55 lead over Danny Schlobohm. Harris knew that there was no guarantee that lead would hold up and came in determined to have a great finals, to walk away with his goals completed. In round one Iowa bull rider Jeep Steenhoek claimed first and the go round buckle and an 85 point ride on Double S Bull Co. bull #01. Harris split second position with fellow Arkansan Curtis Seamans, Kansas's Henry Yoder, Will Hellentall of Iowa and Wisconsin's Steve Antczak. Round two saw Harris stay on track with an 87 point effort on Jim Bollinger's bull #4 to finish first in the round. Hellentall struck again with 86 points grabbing second. Missouri cowboy Seth Reynolds was third with 85 points and Curtis Seamans was fourth after his 83 point ride. In round three Reynolds grabbed the go round buckle with 85 points on Scott Burruss's bull #42. Harris went to the pay window again with a second place split with Erik Hopp for their 83 point rides. Fourth place went to Ben Ferrell who was 81 points. Curtis Seamans hit a home run in round four. He teamed up with Bollinger's bull #5 for 88 points. Kenny Hickman earned second for his 84 point ride. Matt Birkenholtz and Henry Yoder split third and fourth with 81 points. On Saturday night and the final two rounds Harris struck again. In the fifth round Jermey hit with an 89 point ride aboard Kris England's bull #627 to take the round yet again. The number two man in the standings Danny Schlobohm broke his silence with 87 points. Henry Yoder placed again with 83 points and Seamans finished fourth. Harris stayed hot in round six and split first with Terry Dabney. Both were 88 points. Hopp was second with 87 points and Reynolds finished fourth with 86. When it was all said and done Jermey Harris capped off an awesome year with an awesome finals. He rode five out of six bulls placing in five rounds and winning three of those rounds. This earned him the Federation Cup Championship, the Federation Final's Average Championship, the Chip Hume Memorial Award for high point ride of the finals and also became the highest money earner in NFPB history, breaking Curt Check's record from last season. Congratulations Jermey! Once again the Federation Finals held up to expectations with outstanding excitement and great bull riding for everyone to see. The VIP Rodeo was very successful. Everyone did a fantastic job helping our inspirational participants. We welcome the new 2006 Miss NFPB Gretchen Anderson. Looking forward to working with Gretchen throughout the year. Thank you to 2005 Miss NFPB Mandee Neal. Mandee made us all proud to have her as our representative and was a true role model. Thank you Mandee! |
